Turning 30... Freaking Out...

Ok. So everyone experiences this reality differently. And, I know I get to choose HOW to experience this reality, so I thought I ought to blog it out.

I am turning 30. That is really old. I have wrinkles now all over my face that no lotions can repair. This is reality. Not to mention a body that has birthed four children and all that entails. :)

However, I have a lot to be proud of, and grateful for, right?
I have 4 beautiful, healthy kids. This is an accomplishment of a life time. I LOVE my kids!!!
I have run a half marathon. For me, that is huge.
I have lived in lots of really cool places. What an amazing country we live in!!
I have travelled a ton. (not selfish travel)
I have survived a decade early mid-life crisis in my marriage.
I have learned to love learning (this did not happen in school); I love geometry and botany!

But, along the way, I sort of lost myself. Here are some of the things I have regretfully left behind and will resurrect this coming decade (This explains the mid-life crisis):

I LOVE to snow ski and water ski. LOVE IT!! I wish I had done some of that in my 20s.
I LOVE jazz music and symphonies. I should have listened to more in my 20s.
I LOVE singing. I should have sung more even though it is annoying to those who live with you.
I LOVE bike rides. I should have ridden my bike more.
I LOVE ice cream. I should have eaten more.
I LOVE camping. I should have camped more.
I LOVE shopping. I should have shopped more.
And MOST OF ALL, I LOVE people. I should have spent more time with them. What a sad loss.

So, this birthday leaves me proud, a little sad and very determined to get back all those joys I chose to leave behind in order to "love" my family, or so I thought. Too bad that its not very loving to ignore your own wants. Ha!

Happy Birthday to me. This Sunday. Let the dreaded day come forth and take me to higher places.

Catapult

I made this catapult. Can you see the yellow blur in the second picture? That's the ball shooting.
